Utah’s Rules for Teen Drivers
Once your teenager is old enough to drive, you’ll want to know the rules of the road. According to Utah’s Driver License Division, drivers aged 16 to 17 in Utah have restrictions on when they are allowed to drive. Drivers of those ages cannot drive between the hours of midnight and five A.M, unless they are riding with a licensed driver aged 21 or over. Exceptions are made for those who are driving for a school-sponsored activity, for work, for agricultural operations, or in an emergency situation.
Additionally, during the first six months that a teen has their drivers’ license or until age 18, they can’t transport anyone except members of their immediate families unless a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old is sitting in the passenger seat; exceptions are driving for agricultural operations or in response to an emergency.
